HOW TO GET STARTED

For details of the many site features, see the FAQ page. Please.

Here is a very abbreviated summary of how to get into a game after you log in.

To join an existing game, click one of the games at the left of the lobby screen.
(Click "Play vs computer" in the lobby for how to do that.)

To create a new game, click "New Game".

To take a seat at the table, click one of the little chairs.

Click START

To play pieces, click the one you want, orient it using mouse wheel or space bar, move mouse to where you want to play it, click again.

Available commands: (enter in chat box/es)
(those in green with underlines can be clicked to execute them).

/help -- displays this reference page.
/back -- return to last table visited, from either a table or the lobby.
/block name(s)... -- Block chat from named players
-- if no names are given, current block list is displayed
/clear -- clear the chat box
/display -- show display options panel.
/copytodemo-- recreate current game in, and join, a new Puzzle (Demo) room
/eraseboard-- erase the playing board
/find player -- reports whereabouts of <player>

(within the Room from which the command is issued).
/invite player -- invites a player to your table

or click the envelope icon near the bottom and choose a name.
/join table -- join the game at that table, e.g. 001

In the lobby, click a game to join it.
/join can be used to go directly from one game to another.
/lastmoves -- reports the most recent (up to 4) moves in Game Chat.
/movelist -- displays names of pieces played, in order.
Together with a screen shot, allows recreating a game.
/mygames -- displays scores of your 20 most recent games
/newstart -- reset the table for a new Random Duplicate or Avante start.
/pentobi -- prepare download link to save the game as a pentobi file.
@name message ... or ...
/pm name message... -- sends "message..." to that player
or click the 'chat bubble' near the bottom of the screen and choose a name.
/pieces -- display names of pieces
/random -- generate a random digit, for, say, determining who will play first.
tfg(No slash on this one). tfg typed in chat appears as "Thanks for games."
tfp(No slash on this one). tfp typed in chat appears as "Thanks for playing."
/time -- displays the current time (24h clock) in the chat.
/unblock name(s)... -- Remove name(s) from block list
/who [room name] -- lists players in the named room, or all rooms.

to play piece.

How to Play Pieces

With Mouse & Keyboard:

Click on a piece in the supply boxes at the left. Move the mouse over the board - do not hold the button down - to choose a place to play it, and click again when you are satisfied.

With Touchscreen option:

Touch desired piece to choose, reorient using arrows, touch where to play, touch 'selector box' circle to confirm the move.

Piece Orientation

There are several ways to reorient a piece after it has been selected.

Click the arrows in the "selector box"
Rotate the mouse wheel
or use these keys as shortcuts:

V - vertical flip
C - horizontal flip
X - rotate clockwise
S - rotate counter-clockwise

Press SPACE to rotate through all positions,

Seat Controls

Available seats can be filled by players or computer players.
Click icon to take a seat or to place a computer player.

To change seats, click another chair.

To leave a seat click the "X" box to the right. The player who created the table (the 'owner') can also remove other players from seats.
Note that if an "owner" leaves the table, he is no longer considered the owner, even if he returns later.

To leave the game: click QUIT (but not as a player if the game is still going)
